If you’re traveling to Disney World soon, you need to know which Magic Kingdom rides you can’t miss in order to decide which ones to tackle first. Read on for my (mostly) objective attraction list.
Spending at least one day at Magic Kingdom is a must if you’re traveling to Walt Disney World in Orlando. However, every one of these parks is huge and you will not be able to ride every single attraction. Read on for a list of Magic Kingdom rides you can’t miss.
In order to help you organize your day, here is a ranking of the best attractions you will find in the land of the castle.
Magic Kingdom Rides You Can’t Miss
7. Under The Sea: Journey of The Little Mermaid: this is a classic ride and it has no height requirement. You will be able to witness the story from the movie inside a beautiful cart shaped like a shell. It’s one of my favorites to start the day after visiting Seven Dwarfs mine train. You can also try and hop in at noon, as most of its line is inside and air-conditioned.
6. Peter Pan’s Flight: in some other rankings you will find this attraction in their top 3, but not here. Sorry haters, we’re team Haunted Mansion in this blog. This kids’ ride can be quite dark for little ones, and although it feels magical while you’re riding it (I mean, you’re in a boat and it can fly!), the long lines make it not as enjoyable.
5. Space Mountain: if you’re an adrenaline junkie you may want to change this one to your top three, but I chose to go for different tastes. This ride has spaceships, speed, sound, and light effects, what’s not to love?
4. Haunted Mansion: as I said before, this blog is a huge Haunted Mansion advocate. This is one of the most heavily themed attractions you will find and it is a Disney Parks classic. It tells a story from beginning to end. I don’t want to spoil anything, but the first time you ride it, this ride will blow your mind. The visual effects are amazing and every time you ride it you may find something you have not seen before.
3. Splash Mountain: two years ago, there was an announcement about this attraction becoming a Princess and the Frog ride. This will not happen yet as it is scheduled for 2024-2025. This log ride has one of the most privileged views of Magic Kingdom’s iconic castle. I always recommend bringing an extra top in case you get soaked.
2. Big Thunder Mountain: this roller coaster is fast but not extreme, so you will enjoy it as a family if you’re with kids that are tall enough to ride. Their main fall has a great Magic Kingdom view, and it is a train traveling through a mountain.
1. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train: you will witness its theming even during the line. This mine train will let you witness some iconic scenes from the classic fairy tale. The speed for this coaster is just right so that everyone can enjoy it. The sound and music effects will take you right to the movie, the house in the woods is beautiful and you may even encounter a famous old lady with an apple there. Nostalgic, and fun, my jam.
Special shout out to Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. This one did not make the top 7, but it is interactive, Toy Story themed and you will be able to shoot a laser at Emperor Zurg. Therefore, do not miss it.
